Fire & EMS Study Background
Dearborn County currently has nearly three dozen providers of fire and / or emergency medical services for its 50,000+ citizens--with some of the providers based outside of the county. In recent years, fire and EMS providers have indicated that it is difficult for them to operate under current fiscal conditions. In May of 2011, the Dearborn County Government, via the County Commissioners, received a grant from the Dearborn Community Foundation to conduct a study to:
Gather and analyze "existing conditions" on fire and emergency medical services in Dearborn County
Review alternative organizational structures for the delivery of these services
Select tentative preferred alternative(s) to provide the highest level(s) of service possible
Conduct fiscal / service analysis of preferred alternative(s)
