Program Director / Counselor
Dearborn Superior Courts
 
Excellent career opportunity for a masters level clinician to serve as Program Director / Counselor for the Dearborn Superior Courts special programs which have been in place since 2007. The position will work with other master level clinicians and provide administrative duties and direct therapeutic services within the Dearborn County Justice System in programming designed to address the impact of substance abuse on the criminal justice system and community.
 
The position will have the primary responsibility for the male Jail Chemical Addiction Program (JCAP), a comprehensive substance abuse program within the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center. The position also is involved with the female JCAP Program, and aftercare treatment through the Accountability, Change and Community Court (ACC Court) which is the Superior Court I Drug Court which is certified by the Indiana Judicial Center. Additional program responsibilities include the Court Alcohol and Drug Education Program sponsored by Superior Court II and certified by the Indiana Judicial Center which provides basic and advanced education; or referral to counseling to address substance abuse issues of new offenders; community and family outreach programs; and prevention programs in local schools.
 
Education: Successful candidates will possess an MSW (or equivalent in another social services discipline) from an accredited graduate school, with a minimum of 3 years post-graduate work experience. This experience will ideally include working with chemically dependent offenders and dually-diagnosed populations.
 
Licensure/Certification: State licensure (ex. LCSW/LPC) is required. Additionally, certification as an addictions specialist from state and/or federal credentialing agency is preferred.
 
Preferred knowledge/Skills: Expertise in addiction treatment methods is required. Ability to function in and facilitate a variety of treatment modalities to include: group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, multi-family group, and others as needed. Emphasis is placed on effective assessment, treatment planning, and the development of aftercare plans. Ideally, candidates will be versed in the delivery of behavioral interventions aimed at altering substance abuse behavior and criminal conduct. Candidates must be able to function independently; work well with other professions in the criminal justice system and coordinate program development, oversight and evaluation.
