PAST

FUTURE

In August of 1983 Bill Black, Jr. got together with seven other dedicated people and began forming the Dearborn County Water Rescue Unit.

These eight original members put in a lot of time, effort and their own money to get the team started. All members have gone through a great deal of training. the majority of training has been with the Boone-Kenton County Water Rescue team considered to be one of the best teams in Kentucky.

D.C.W.R. started in conjunction with Dearborn County Civil Defense in early 1984. This helped open the door for the team in regards to membership and recognition. The relationship has worked well to benefit both organizations and the community.

We've responded to calls for help in drowning, people stranded in flooded homes & cars, boaters in need of help and recovery of stolen property in water.

We are up-grading our services by attending education programs and training.

D.C.W.R.  now has many  members and several new probationary members, all of which are dedicated people. The team presently operates many vehicles and water craft. These vehicles were modified to the team's needs by its own members in their free time. The team also has 4 sets of black water dive gear complete with communications. The team is now fully operational and can safely and quickly have divers in the water, any time, day or night, any time of the year.

For individuals or groups needing help with water related incidents the team is currently dispatched through the Dearborn County Sheriffs Dept. @ 537-3431or any police agency, fire dept. or life squad.

D.C.W.R. is a non-profit, volunteer organization ready and willing to help whenever needed.

D.C.W.R.  is looking forward to tremendous growth in membership, training, experience and equipment. There is training available for crewmembers and divers, for present members and anyone interested in joining.

The team feels a strong responsibility to the community and its' people, especially with the boundary changes involving the Ohio River.

With dedicated personnel and advanced training the D.C.W.R. Team expects to live up to this responsibility.
