Veterans Treatment Court

The Court also has a recovery program for Untied States Veterans entitled Dearborn County Veterans Treatment Court, certified by the Indiana Judicial Center. 

Indiana is home to nearly 500,000 United States veterans.  Some veterans return home after discharge and find it difficult to transition back to civilian life, due to physical and mental wounds such as Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Some veterans self medicate with alcohol or drugs. Some are suicidal. 

The mission of Dearborn County Veterans Treatment Court is to restore honor, rehabilitate and assist veterans in leading a productive and law abiding life, and to promote a safer and stronger community. 

With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan...”

President Lincoln’s promise to care for those who shall have borne the battle ought to be one of our greatest privileges as American citizens. Without the sacrifices of our veterans, our nation would certainly not be as we know it today.
