Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard housing locally and globally by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable homes to sell to low-income families in need. Since 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati has built, renovated or repaired more than 600 homes throughout a 9-county region in the Tri-State area. Habitat is dedicated both locally and globally to construct, rehabilitate and preserve homes, advocate for fair and just housing policies, and provide training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses are then sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
